The "F" word

No, not the really awful, inappropriate "F" word...the sick one...the FLU! :(  Unfortunately, our home has been stricken with it. So far, 3/5 of us have gotten it. Rach, Brad and Nick have all felt really awful this week. Fevers, body aches, headaches, congestion, coughing, runny nose, sneezing. It's not pretty. Bless their hearts! Thankfully, we didn't have anything extremely important planned this week, so we're not missing out on once-in-a-lifetime opportunities or anything. So far, Trent and I have escaped the flu for whatever reason. I'm so glad!

This lazy, relaxing, recuperating week has made me thankful for some things. I thought I would post them here:
1- homeschooling! Without this, we would have missed at least 1 entire week of school and would have to make up numerous assignments/tests
2- our home! We've all had a warm, comfy place to lay, stretch out and rest.
3- Netflix! Ironically, we just cancelled our streaming Netflix because we don't ever use it, but we have it till the end of the month. AND, we've never used it more than we have this week. The kids have taken turns choosing awesome cartoons and movies every day.
4- Christmas Decorations! At least, as we sit here in the den every day, we get to look at the beautiful Christmas tree and all the lovely decorations. Plus, we're still counting down the days till Santa arrives, and checking to see where Snazzy the elf is hiding.
5- Motrin/Ibuprofen- This wonder-drug has given the kids a taste of their usual selves so that they can play and laugh and be normal for short periods of time.
6- Cool, crisp weather! After being cooped up for most of the day, Trent and I try to go outside at least once and get some nice, fresh air in our lungs. It makes me feel healthy just being outdoors.
7- Our good health! We haven't been sick in MONTHS! We are usually a very healthy bunch and haven't even had to set foot in the dr's office since our last well-visits. I am thankful that none of us battle chronic illness or pain!
8- This won't last forever! Even though this week has been tiring, demanding, and germy, we know it will be gone in a few days and we'll be able to resume our normal activities.
9- Christmas! We are so excited that Christmas is literally around the corner! This upcoming excitement gives us something awesome to look forward to.
10- Packages in the mail! We were delighted to get a Christmas package in the mail yesterday from Aunt L and Uncle P! Talk about giving us some fun things to do, play with, see, etc... That raised our spirits for sure!

Here's hoping that we're all 100% next week so we can continue to get ready for Christmas and all the fun and meaningful ways we celebrate!
Catch you later FLU!! (NOT!)  :)
